Islamic-Iranian Art Gallery opens in Spanish capital

The Islamic-Iranian Art Gallery opens in the Spanish capital city of Madrid.

The Islamic-Iranian Art Gallery has been inaugurated in the Spanish capital city of Madrid.

The Iranian cultural attaché office in Spain opened the art gallery in the House of Cantabria, Madrid, on Wednesday.

Iranian Ambassador to Spain Mohammad Hassan Fadaie Fard, Iranian cultural attaché, members of the embassy and Spanish fans were present during the opening ceremony.

On display are 45 artistic works in various fields, including painting, miniature, calligraphy, Quranic gilding and Go-o-Morgh, which is a particular style of Persian painting featuring bird and flora in different colors.

Iranian artists whose works will be displayed in the gallery include Mohammad Reza Honarvar, Mehdi Khodapanah, Maryam Gholami and Ali Kalhor.

The gallery will be open to the public until January 25, where the four artists will also hold workshops regarding their work and Persian-Islamic art.

Art has played a crucial role in developing ties between Iran and Spain, Fadaie Fard noted at the event.

He also pointed to positive political, economic, parliamentary and cultural ties between Iran and Spain, adding that the event would help bilateral activities and cooperation to continue.

“The 400th anniversary of establishing relations between Iran and Spain will be held on February 16,” he concluded.
